Ad tech firm Precisify released a new US audience report covering ages 13 to 44 showing YouTube reaches 83% of Gen Z and 78% of Millennials, more than any other platform studied. TikTok reaches 68% of Gen Z but only 46% of Millennials; Netflix reaches 65% of Millennials but drops to 57% of Gen Z. Nearly 45% of both age groups watch 30 to 60 minutes of YouTube per day, with Millennials skewing toward longer sessions of three or more hours. UTA and Patrick Whitesell's WIN Submit First-Round Bids for Wasserman Assets; WME and CAA Pass

United Talent Agency and WIN, the startup co-founded by Patrick Whitesell and ex-Endeavor exec Jason Lublin, submitted non-binding first-round bids to investment bank Moelis & Co. in the auction for assets belonging to Wasserman, now rebranded as The Team. WME Group and Creative Artists Agency both declined to bid. Whitesell has not yet secured a financial backer for WIN's overture. UTA faces a structural complication: WGA conflict-of-interest rules would likely block it from acquiring Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Wasserman's management division, due to restrictions on agency ownership of production entities. More than 20 performing artists, including Laufey, Chappell Roan, and John Summit, left the company after emails between Casey Wasserman and Ghislaine Maxwell surfaced in Epstein documents earlier this year.

Paradigm Hires Former WME Talent Agent Elizabeth Wiederseim After March Agency Layoffs

Wiederseim spent over a decade at Gersh before joining WME, and previously worked at Innovative Artists and Don Buchwald and Associates. Her clients at WME are expected to follow her to Paradigm; she repped actors including Colman Domingo during his Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe nominations for Rustin, plus Leo Woodall, Will Brill, and Nate Mann. Paradigm managing partner Andrew Ruf said she brings 'a rare combination of sharp creative instincts, deep client relationships, and a reputation for advocacy.' Wiederseim was named in Variety's Power of Women in Hollywood list in 2024.

SAG-AFTRA Resumes AMPTP Talks With AI Protections and Pension Funding Still Unresolved

SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP resumed negotiations this week after pausing in March to make way for the Writers Guild's talks. Both sides are targeting a deal before the DGA begins its own contract negotiations on May 11. Executive director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland is holding firm on AI protections, pushing back on AMPTP's request for a longer contract term unless studios concede more on artificial intelligence. The WGA ratified its own four-year deal on Friday, with studios agreeing to alert the union when writer material is licensed for AI training. A four-year SAG-AFTRA term is now expected, mirroring the WGA outcome, with greater emphasis on pension funding than the writers' deal included.

Instagram Tests Standalone Instants App for Disappearing Posts in Spain and Italy

Instagram launched a new standalone app called Instants in Spain and Italy where users can only post from their phone's camera, each post disappears after 24 hours, and each follower can view it only once. There is no access to photo or video libraries, making it a camera-only experience designed for spontaneous, unedited content. Meta separated the experiment from Instagram's main app, consistent with its approach of isolating short-form features into standalone apps before deciding whether to merge them back. This follows the Edits app (a CapCut competitor) and ongoing reports of a standalone Reels app in development. Instagram says multiple versions of Instants are being tested simultaneously.

Former Beast Industries Executive Sues MrBeast Company for Harassment and Pregnancy Discrimination

Beast Industries, the company behind YouTube star MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson), was sued April 22 in North Carolina federal court by former social media executive Lorrayne Mavromatis, who worked at the company from 2022 to 2025 and alleges sexual harassment, pregnancy discrimination, and wrongful termination. Mavromatis accused company leadership of condoning harassment and ignoring employee complaints throughout her tenure. Beast Industries filed to dismiss the case on Friday, calling Mavromatis a 'social media influencer who filed this lawsuit to gain publicity by leveraging one of the most recognized YouTube creators in the world.' The company's filing states her termination was 'a lawful business decision that was unrelated to her gender, her parental leave, or raising of any issues with human resources.' The filing also referenced a 2024 internal culture review as evidence of workplace improvement under current management.
