YouTube says its U.S. creator system added $60B to GDP and supported 540,000 jobs in 2025
YouTube released its 2025 American impact report, produced with Oxford Economics and YouTube internal data. The company said its American creative system contributed more than $60 billion to GDP in 2025 and supported more than 540,000 full-time equivalent jobs. YouTube said all 50 states now have at least 10 channels with more than 1 million monthly views, and 76% of small and medium-sized businesses with a YouTube channel say the platform helped grow their customer base. YouTube said 77% of creators who report having a media and entertainment career started that career on YouTube.
THE BREAKDOWN
YouTube is giving creators a stronger economic argument for brand and platform negotiations. Agents should use the jobs and GDP data when positioning mature channels as small media companies with payroll, vendors and local business impact. The state-level channel data also helps creators outside Los Angeles push back against lower regional pricing. Brand managers should ask for proof of customer lift, not only views, because YouTube is now framing creator channels as business-growth infrastructure. For creators, the report supports higher retainers when the channel already funds staff, studios and production vendors.
