YouTube creators can now replace copyright-struck music with AI-generated alternatives in one click

Source: Music Business WorldwideFull story →

YouTube launched a tool that lets creators swap copyright-struck music on existing videos with AI-generated alternatives directly inside YouTube Studio, according to Music Business Worldwide. The tool eliminates the manual step of re-editing, re-uploading, or accepting a revenue-share split under Content ID. Creators can preview AI-generated tracks filtered by mood, tempo, and genre before applying the replacement. The update is live globally.

THE BREAKDOWN

For gaming and sports creators who build highlight reels and intros around existing music, this removes the binary choice between a revenue split and a muted video. The caveat: AI replacements are not brand-recognizable the way licensed music is, and for content where the music is part of the creative identity, the swap may affect performance. Sponsors with contractual language around content integrity should be flagged before a creator applies this tool to a sponsored post. Review any SOW language around content modification before advising clients to use it on campaign deliverables.
