WWE NXT Premium Live Events Moving to The CW in New 20-Show Broadcast Deal
WWE and The CW agreed to bring all of NXT's Premium Live Events to broadcast television, covering 20 programs over the next several years starting with Great American Bash this summer. NXT's PLEs were previously on Peacock, then moved to YouTube last month, and now have a free-to-air broadcast home for the first time. WWE and The CW already had a five-year weekly NXT deal signed in 2024. The CW president Brad Schwartz said NXT 'has energized our Tuesday nights by consistently delivering a loyal and passionate fanbase.' The CW's growing live sports portfolio includes football and basketball from the ACC, Pac-12, and Mountain West, plus NASCAR, PBR, and AVP Beach Volleyball.
THE BREAKDOWN
WWE NXT's move to broadcast gives its developing talent free-to-air exposure they couldn't access through a streaming window, which changes the sponsorship calculus for that tier of WWE talent. For agents managing athletes or influencers considering WWE crossover appearances, broadcast exposure on The CW is now part of the pitch and comes with impressions priced at broadcast rather than streaming rates. Emerging WWE talent negotiating their own brand deals should flag broadcast impressions as a separate line item from streaming numbers in their media kits. The CW's expanding sports portfolio also makes it a more attractive media partner for talent with crossover appeal beyond wrestling.
