Twitch gives Stream Recaps a new category-page discovery slot

Source: TwitchFull story →

Twitch announced a new discovery placement for Stream Recaps on November 4: shelves above live channels on website category pages. World of Warcraft gets the first placement, and Twitch said other categories would follow later that week. Twitch builds each recap from clips created by the streamer, editors and viewers, and creators can change the selection in Stream Summary. The category shelf lets viewers sample streamers they do not follow, rather than limiting recaps to an existing audience.

THE BREAKDOWN

Assign an editor to review the recap after each sponsored stream instead of leaving the automatic selection untouched. Choose clips that explain the creator's format to someone who has never watched the channel. Ask Twitch for referral and follow data before promising a sponsor incremental reach from the shelf. Define recap usage and sponsor disclosure expectations in the brief, but do not sell category placement as guaranteed inventory.
