Netflix Locks Lele Pons, Martha Stewart, and Kate Hudson Into Exclusive Video Podcast Deal

Source: VarietyFull story →

Netflix has expanded its iHeartMedia partnership to secure exclusive streaming rights to the video versions of three new podcasts: 'Suite 305 with Lele Pons' (with Shakira on the debut episode), 'The Martha Stewart Podcast,' and 'Sibling Revelry with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson.' Full video episodes will no longer be available on YouTube; iHeartMedia retains all audio rights across iHeartRadio and audio platforms. The expanded deal — which brings Netflix's iHeart show count to more than 14 titles — builds on a partnership announced last fall, which gave Netflix its first daily live program in The Breakfast Club radio show. Netflix has also recently struck a joint licensing deal with Spotify for Jay Shetty's 'On Purpose' podcast. The streamer's podcast push began in earnest last fall with both licensed acquisitions and original greenlights.

THE BREAKDOWN

Netflix pulling video podcast inventory off YouTube to lock it into its subscription ecosystem is a direct challenge to YouTube's assumed status as the default home of video podcasting. For talent agents with creator-adjacent clients producing audio or video podcasts, the calculus on platform strategy has materially changed: a Netflix or Spotify video licensing deal may now generate more upfront revenue and audience prestige than a YouTube-first approach. Lele Pons as a talent anchor here is telling — she bridges Latin American, pop, and digital-native audiences in a way Netflix needs to grow globally. Managers with established podcast-format talent should open exploratory conversations with both Netflix and Spotify's content teams before this window closes.
