Instagram Opens Native Content Scheduling to All Users, No Longer Requires Professional Mode
Instagram removed the Professional Mode requirement for native content scheduling, allowing any account to plan and publish posts directly within the app. Previously the feature was restricted to creator and business accounts. The change eliminates one of the most cited reasons creators used third-party scheduling tools like Later and Buffer. Instagram has not announced whether scheduling will be extended to Stories in a future update.
THE BREAKDOWN
Native scheduling removes a workflow barrier that was causing friction in brand campaign delivery, and it eliminates one excuse for late posts. For agents managing campaign timelines across multiple clients, this is a minor but meaningful operational win. The more significant implication is that Instagram is consolidating creator tooling inside the app, reducing reliance on third parties and increasing platform stickiness. Brands and agencies that rely on third-party scheduling data for post timing analysis will need to account for the fact that more creators will now schedule directly in-app, which may reduce the data those tools capture.
