Elvis Duran and Paul Heyman Launch Podrophenia With Upfront Pay and Profit-Sharing for Creators
Elvis Duran, WWE's Paul Heyman, and production company MCM Studios have launched Podrophenia, a podcast and video production company targeting creators who need broadcast-quality infrastructure. The flagship show is 'Hello Randy' starring Randy Fenoli of TLC's 'Say Yes to the Dress,' expected later this year on iHeartMedia. Podrophenia will provide creators with upfront compensation plus profit-sharing, not just a revenue cut after costs. The Chelsea-based studio has hosted 'Hot Ones,' 'The Diary of a CEO,' and Keke Palmer productions. Duran plans to use his nationally syndicated Z100 morning show to promote Podrophenia properties.
THE BREAKDOWN
Podrophenia is structuring creator podcast deals with upfront pay plus backend, not just ad-revenue sharing, which sets a reference point for how serious audio studios should be pricing their offers. Talent reps negotiating podcast production deals should push for the same: a guaranteed upfront fee regardless of download performance, plus a backend rev share once the show breaks even. The iHeart distribution guarantee is real value, but talent should not trade away audio or video rights in perpetuity just to get into that ecosystem. Get the rights scope defined on day one, particularly for any show extension into film, merchandise, or live events.
