Creators.gg launches with a performance-based rewards model for game creators
GamesIndustry.biz reports that FirstLook launched Creators.gg with IO Interactive and Brain Jar Games as launch partners. The platform gives creators early access to playtests and unreleased content, then rewards them based on performance rather than follower count. More than 10,000 creators signed up during beta testing. FirstLook CEO Eden Chen described the model as a way to help creators turn engagement into earning potential. For studios, the pitch is a scalable way to activate small and mid-size creators who are often closer to a game's core community than large generalist streamers.
THE BREAKDOWN
Gaming reps should ask for transparent performance definitions before clients join rewards platforms. Views, watch time, sales, wishlists, and affiliate conversions all produce different economics. If a creator is giving a studio early access content, negotiate usage rights, embargo rules, approval timelines, and payout thresholds. Small creators should not trade exclusive access for vague exposure when they are driving measurable engagement. Studios can make these programs work if reward formulas are clear enough to let creators plan around them.
