Clique Apps pitches standalone fan apps for artists and creators

Source: Music Business WorldwideFull story →

Music Business Worldwide reports that Clique Apps launched with standalone mobile apps built for individual artists and creators. The company was founded by Cody Blake, Matthew Esposito, and Peter Bunetta and says it can build a branded app in about a week. Early partners include GiaNina, Warner Records artist Alex Sampson, and pop artist Leah Kate. The apps can support content, community tools, direct fan messaging, monetization, and ticketing through a modular dashboard. Clique's pitch is that fans should find the creator's own app in the App Store, not another marketplace profile.

THE BREAKDOWN

Artist teams should treat standalone apps as owned-channel infrastructure, not a merch add-on. Ask who controls customer data, app store accounts, subscription terms, push notifications, and payment processing. If the vendor builds the app quickly, the contract still needs exit rights and data portability in case the relationship ends. Brands may want access to these fan environments, but sponsorship pricing should reflect higher intent than a social impression. The real value is direct fan access that platforms cannot throttle overnight.
