Captivate rolls out monetization tools for podcasters
Captivate has turned on Captivate Monetization, a suite of tools for podcasters to earn revenue from advertising. Podnews reported that the package includes Captivate Marketplace for direct sales between podcasts and advertisers, programmatic advertising, memberships, tips and Campaign Management for AMIE. AMIE is Captivate's dynamic content insertion engine. The company is also hosting a webinar for creators and advertisers to explain the tools. The rollout gives independent podcasters more revenue options inside one hosting stack.
THE BREAKDOWN
Podcast creators now have more leverage to sell ads directly instead of handing all inventory to networks. Managers should compare direct-sold CPMs, programmatic fill rates, membership revenue and dynamic insertion costs before picking a monetization route. If a creator controls both host-read inventory and paid membership access, sponsorship packages should price each separately. Brand managers should ask whether an ad is direct-sold, programmatic or dynamically inserted because control and reporting differ. Contracts should also define ad category conflicts across back catalog episodes when dynamic insertion is active.
