Banijay takes Don't Tell Comedy's library into streaming distribution

Source: DeadlineFull story →

Banijay America has partnered with Don’t Tell Comedy to expand the stand-up producer’s streaming distribution and develop longer-form programming. Deadline reports that the agreement covers 115 hours of stand-up content from a brand with 14 million followers. Banijay Rights will distribute the library across international AVOD, FAST and SVOD platforms, including Prime Video Direct. Banijay will also launch dedicated YouTube channels and support new projects, brand partnerships and financing opportunities. Don’t Tell produces more than 5,000 secret-location shows a year worldwide, according to the report.

THE BREAKDOWN

Ask for a rights schedule before agreeing to reuse a comedian’s short set in a compilation or streaming special. Separate compensation for the original recording from any fee or revenue share for later distribution. Define platform windows and territories so a library deal does not block the performer’s next special. For sponsored compilations, negotiate approval of brand adjacency and any use of the comedian’s likeness in advertising. Require reporting by platform and title so you can assess whether wider distribution produces income for your client.
